The Calhoun Police Department says several people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into a large fight at the Calhoun Recreation Department last month that authorities later connected to a burglary earlier that day.

According to a statement released by Calhoun Police, officers were dispatched to the recreation department at 100 Recreation Drive on the evening of Tuesday, July 14, following a report of a fight involving approximately 15 to 20 people in the parking lot.

During the initial response and subsequent investigation, officers determined that a burglary had occurred earlier that day within the City of Calhoun involving some of the same individuals believed to have participated in the fight.

The Calhoun Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation into both incidents on July 15.

Since then, detectives have conducted numerous interviews and executed multiple search warrants. Police said those investigative efforts have led to the identification and arrest of several individuals believed to have been involved in the two incidents.

The investigation remains active, and police say additional arrests and charges are anticipated as detectives continue gathering evidence and following investigative leads.

Calhoun Police said no additional information will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The department said it remains committed to thoroughly investigating the incidents and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.
