As the community prepares for a night of costumes, candy, and celebration, the Calhoun Police Department is reminding residents to stay alert and make safety a priority this Halloween.
Officers shared several key tips to help ensure that children and families enjoy a safe evening of trick-or-treating:
- Stay visible: Carry a flashlight, use reflective tape, and wear bright costumes.
- Use crosswalks: Always look both ways before crossing the street, and walk—don’t run—across roadways.
- Travel in groups: Younger children should be accompanied by an adult.
- Check treats: Parents are encouraged to inspect all candy before children eat it.
- Drive carefully: Motorists should slow down in neighborhoods and watch for trick-or-treaters near roadways and crosswalks.
Calhoun Police officers will be out in neighborhoods throughout the evening to help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and happy Halloween.
“Halloween is a great time for families to enjoy the community together. We just ask everyone to stay alert, look out for one another, and make safety part of the fun,” said Chief T. Pyle of the Calhoun Police Department.
