CALHOUN — The Calhoun Wholesale Food Outlet at 118 W.C. Bryant Parkway is currently closed, with a “stop work order” from the city’s Building Inspection and Code Enforcement department posted on the front door.
While a sign at the store indicates the closure is for “store remodeling,” the stop work order reveals that construction was being carried out without the proper permits. The order specifically states, “general construction — is not acceptable,” citing the unauthorized work.
It remains unclear when the store will reopen or whether the closure is temporary as part of ongoing renovations.
The outlet is known for offering meat and other food items at what reviewers on Yelp describe as “cheap and awesome prices.” Online feedback is mixed: some customers praise the store’s low prices and meat department, while others have reported long waits and organizational issues.
According to recent Yelp updates, the store has been closed since at least mid-August.
