A Calhoun woman is behind bars after leading police and sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase through Gordon County on Monday.
According to a report from the Calhoun Police Department, around 11:30 a.m. on October 27, officers were searching for a silver Kia Soul believed to be involved in a hit-and-run at a business on West Belmont Drive. An officer spotted the vehicle traveling west on Highway 53 near West May Street and followed it to Neel’s Market, where the driver pulled up to a fuel pump.
The officer confirmed the tag matched the vehicle from the earlier hit-and-run and made contact with the driver, identified as Hannah Storm Webb, 30, of Union Grove Church Road. Webb initially complied by turning off her car and handing over her license but then refused to exit the vehicle, rolled up her window, and locked the doors.
Despite repeated commands to step out, Webb ignored the officer and appeared to play music on her cellphone. She reportedly asked the officer, “Are you ready to part?” before restarting the car and reversing away, narrowly missing the officer.
A pursuit began westbound on Highway 53 toward Rome, with additional Calhoun Police officers and Gordon County Sheriff’s deputies joining the chase. Near the Floyd County line, a deputy successfully executed a PIT maneuver, stopping the vehicle.
Officers from Calhoun, Gordon County, and Floyd County worked together to remove Webb from the car, noting she resisted by gripping the steering wheel and pressing her feet against the dashboard. She was taken into custody and transported to the Gordon County Jail without further incident.
Jail records show Webb faces multiple charges, including two counts of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police, Speeding (98 in a 55), two counts of Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Hit and Run.
