Career Criminal Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Plainville Attack

A 65-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested following a reported attack at a Plainville home Tuesday morning.

According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. after a resident reported that a man armed with scissors assaulted her inside her home. Authorities said the victim, with the help of another woman, was able to fight off the suspect before he fled the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as Dwight S. Hunter, 65. Deputies developed information about his whereabouts, and he was located near Adairsville by Bartow County authorities. Hunter was taken into custody and transferred to the Gordon County Jail.

Hunter faces charges of Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, Battery/Elder Abuse, three counts of Terroristic Threats for allegedly threatening the victim’s family, and a probation violation.

Officials said Hunter’s criminal record dates back to the 1970s, and he has spent a significant portion of his life in the Georgia prison system. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation for previous convictions including Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping.

Sheriff Mitch Ralston thanked the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in apprehending the suspect.
