CALHOUN, GA – Christian Community Outreach (CCO) is gearing up for its 9th Annual Family Day celebration, set for Saturday, July 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at World Harvest Church in Calhoun. The free event will provide school supplies, clothing, shoes, food, and fun activities for families across Northwest Georgia.
Families in need from Gordon, Bartow, Floyd, and Whitfield counties are invited to attend this community celebration, which draws more than 1,000 children and families each year. Children can also look forward to visits from beloved superhero characters and interactive games for all ages.
Sherry Turner, Director of Christian Community Outreach, says the biggest current need is school clothing and shoes for children. “We’re blessed to be a blessing,” she said. “But we can’t do it without the support of our community. Every donated item helps us reach another family in need.”
CCO operates a free clothing closet located inside World Harvest Church, open the 2nd and 4th weekends of each month, as well as a monthly distribution program called Beany’s Blessing, which provides essential items such as shampoo, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. Other year-round outreach events include Operation Warm-Up for the homeless and the Christmas Cares Outreach that brings joy, toys, and dinner to families in need during the holidays.
Community members, churches, and local businesses are encouraged to get involved—whether by donating items, volunteering, or offering financial support. Donations of seasonal clothing, school supplies, hygiene items, bottled water, snacks, and more can be dropped off Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the clothing closet.
