Gordon County Clerk of Superior Court Grant Walraven is alerting residents to a new scam circulating in the community.
According to Walraven, the scam involves a fake notice claiming to be from a court regarding a traffic hearing. The fraudulent notice may appear official and includes a QR code directing recipients to make a payment.
Walraven emphasized that courts will never contact individuals by phone or email regarding court matters, and they will not send QR codes for payment.
Residents are urged not to scan the QR code, provide payment information, or send money if they receive a notice similar to the one described. Anyone who believes they have been targeted by the scam should avoid responding and report the incident to local authorities.
