The Gordon County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night, Feb. 3, 2026, to place a moratorium on the construction of data centers within the county.
The decision temporarily halts new data center development while the county updates its Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) to include specific regulations governing the construction and operation of such facilities.
Commissioner Chad Steward introduced the idea during the board’s work session earlier that evening and later brought the motion forward during the regular meeting, where it received approval from all five commissioners.
