Community spirit was on full display this weekend as residents turned out in force for the “Fill the Truck” donation event at Food Lion, aimed at supporting local families through the VAC (Voluntary Action Center).
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of donors, organizers collected over 1,000 canned and non-perishable food items, along with $201 in monetary donations. Every item and dollar collected will go directly toward assisting families in need across the area.
“We’re overwhelmed by the incredible support,” said event organizers. “This is what community looks like — people coming together to help their neighbors.”
Volunteers played a crucial role in the event’s success, donating their time, energy, and passion. From loading donations and greeting shoppers to spreading the word ahead of the event, their efforts were essential.
“Whether you helped organize, volunteered your time, or simply showed up to donate — we couldn’t have done it without you,” organizers added.
The event served as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another, especially during challenging times.
