The Gordon County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim in Sunday’s fatal motorcycle accident on Lovers Lane Road. Nineteen-year-old Easton Martin of Adairsville, Georgia, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials extended their heartfelt condolences to Martin’s family.
The Georgia State Patrol released preliminary details Sunday evening regarding the crash. According to investigators, the wreck occurred around 2 p.m. near Three Oaks Drive. Martin was traveling northbound on Lovers Lane Road when he approached a line of traffic and was unable to stop in time.
Troopers say Martin applied the rear brake, leaving a skid mark, before swerving into the southbound lane and striking the side of a Ford Ranger. The motorcycle slid onto its right side and came to rest on the west shoulder of the roadway.
The passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Floyd Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
