Motorists in northwest Georgia are enjoying some of the lowest gas prices in the state, with Dalton averaging $2.79 per gallon and Rome close behind at $2.78, according to AAA’s latest fuel price report.
These two metro areas trail only slightly behind the Catoosa-Dade-Walker County region, which currently holds the lowest average price statewide at $2.72 per gallon for regular unleaded.
Across Georgia, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has fallen to $2.90, marking a 4-cent drop from last week. While prices are still 2 cents higher than they were a month ago, they are 42 cents lower than this time last year.
For most drivers, filling a 15-gallon tank now costs around $43.50, saving Georgians nearly $7 compared to a year ago.
The most expensive gas in the state can be found in Savannah ($2.98), followed by Atlanta ($2.93) and Macon ($2.92).
Nationally, the average price has also dipped 4 cents over the past week, landing at $3.14 per gallon. Meanwhile, electricity costs for EV drivers remain unchanged, averaging 36 cents per kilowatt-hour at public charging stations.
AAA encourages travelers to check current prices before heading out, noting that gas costs can change rapidly depending on supply, demand, and market trends.
