Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston has awarded a Sheriff’s Commendation Medal to Deputy Ben Turner for his role in the arrest of a burglary suspect and the recovery of a significant amount of stolen property.
The commendation stems from an incident in the early morning hours of June 24, when Deputy Turner, while on targeted patrol near a self-storage facility in Plainville, apprehended a woman in the act of committing a break-in. The arrest led to the discovery of evidence connecting the suspect to multiple additional burglaries.
Following the initial arrest, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office conducted a follow-up investigation, resulting in two more charges related to separate residential burglaries. Authorities also recovered a large quantity of stolen items.
The commendation was formally presented on Friday, June 27. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Turner was specifically recognized for his alertness and proactive patrol work that led to the arrest and recovery.
