According to investigators, around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, deputy sheriffs responded to a home on James Street near Resaca after reports of a disturbance involving a shooting. When deputies arrived, the residence was engulfed in flames. Fire crews battled the blaze for several hours before discovering the body of 80-year-old Ronald Bramblett inside the destroyed home.
Authorities say Dixon fled the scene on foot. The following morning, Feb. 5, he was spotted in the area armed with a firearm. Deputies established a perimeter, and Dixon was eventually located hiding beneath a mobile home about 300 yards from the crime scene. The Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team responded, and Dixon was shot before being taken into custody.
He was transported by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, then booked into the Gordon County Jail on Saturday, Feb. 8. His bond was set at $2 million, and he remains in custody.
