Motorists traveling through downtown Calhoun on Saturday, October 24, should prepare for road closures and parking restrictions as the city hosts its annual Rocktober Fest celebration.

City officials have announced that several downtown streets will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday, with roads scheduled to reopen at midnight Sunday, October 25.

Wall Street, also known as Highway 41, will be closed from Line Street near the CVS traffic light to Hicks Street near the City Hall traffic light.

Court Street will also be closed from Wall Street and Highway 41 near the Gordon County Courthouse traffic light to Park Avenue.

Drivers are encouraged to use Piedmont Street and Park Avenue as alternate routes, as both streets will remain open throughout the event.

Officials are also reminding residents and visitors that parking will be strictly prohibited in all designated road closure areas from 5 a.m. Saturday until midnight.

Vehicles left in restricted areas may be towed at the owner’s expense. No Parking and Road Closure signs have been posted, and motorists are urged to move their vehicles before the closures take effect.

Despite the street closures, several parking options will remain available for those attending Rocktober Fest.

The parking garage on Piedmont Street and the parking lot along Park Avenue will remain open. Street parking will also be available along roads that are not closed for the event.

Additional public parking will be available at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library, City Hall, and Gordon County government buildings.

Officials are encouraging motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and pay close attention to posted traffic and parking signs while traveling through downtown Calhoun.

Rocktober Fest is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, in downtown Calhoun.
