Dalton State College is celebrating significant growth this fall, posting its third consecutive year of enrollment increases. The college now serves 5,570 students—an 8.4% jump from fall 2024 and a remarkable 22.8% increase over the last three years.
College officials say the rise reflects Dalton State’s continued focus on student achievement, workforce development, and community engagement.
Alongside enrollment growth, the college also recorded its highest-ever retention rate for first-time, full-time freshmen. This fall, 72% of these students returned for their second year, the highest rate among all state colleges in the University System of Georgia (USG) for the second year in a row.
Dalton State’s momentum has been recognized nationally as well. For three consecutive years, the college has been ranked in the top 10% in the nation for student experience by the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse. Earlier this year, the college earned the prestigious Seal of Excelencia, awarded to institutions with strong outcomes for Latino students.
College leaders say these achievements highlight Dalton State’s growing reputation for educational quality and its expanding role in preparing students for successful careers in Northwest Georgia and beyond.
