Early voting continues today through Friday at the Gordon County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On the ballot:
Statewide: Two Public Service Commission seats and a school tax reduction plan for senior citizens.
Local: Two city elections. In Fairmount, incumbent Joanna Hopper Brannon faces challenger Thomas York. In Calhoun, incumbent Councilman Ray Denmon is being challenged by Bruce Potts.
Sales Taxes: Voters will also decide on two one-cent sales tax measures — the E-SPLOST and the property-tax-lowering FLOST. If both are approved, the local sales tax rate will rise from 7% to 8%.
As of Tuesday, voter turnout includes 4 voters in Fairmount, 368 county voters, and 459 early voters in the City of Calhoun elections.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, with all polling places open.
Please note: voters who normally cast ballots at the Calhoun Recreation Department will vote instead at Belmont Baptist Church while the Rec Department is being rebuilt.
