Early Voting Underway for November 4 Elections in Gordon County

 Early voting for the November 4, 2025 General Municipal Elections in Calhoun and Fairmount — as well as the countywide Special Elections on local referendums — is now open and will continue through Friday, October 31, 2025.

Voters can cast ballots Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office, located in the Gordon County Courthouse at 100 S. Wall Street, Calhoun.
Saturday voting will also be offered on October 18 and October 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Residents who prefer to vote by mail can request an absentee ballot by contacting the Board of Elections at 706-629-7781. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 24, 2025.

In the Calhoun Municipal Election, the only contested race is for City Council Post 4, with incumbent Ray Denmon facing challenger Bruce Potts.
In the Fairmount Municipal Election, City Council Post 3 is contested between incumbent Joanna Brannon and Thomas C. York.

Countywide, voters will decide on several special referendums, including:

  • A Homestead Exemption for the Gordon County Board of Education and another for the City of Calhoun School System.

  • A proposed one percent county Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST), which would increase the local sales tax from 7% to 8% for five years to reduce property taxes.

  • The renewal of the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST), which funds local school system projects and has recently expired.
