East Ridge Man Fatally Struck by Train in Gordon County

GORDON COUNTY, GA – The Gordon County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Gregory Smith, 60, of East Ridge, Tennessee, was struck and killed by a train on the morning of Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Authorities say the incident occurred along the railroad tracks in Gordon County. The circumstances leading to the accident remain under investigation.

Coroner Nick Blalock expressed condolences to Mr. Smith’s family, noting that his office continues to support them during this difficult time, along with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.
