Extreme Cold Watch Issued for All of Georgia This Weekend

SHARE NOW

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for all of Georgia, effective Saturday evening through early Sunday afternoon.

Forecasters warn that dangerously cold wind chills, or “feels like” temperatures, could drop to 5 degrees or below across the state during this time. The frigid conditions may pose serious risks, particularly for vulnerable populations and exposed infrastructure.

Residents are urged to take precautions by protecting people, pets, plants, and pipes. Officials recommend limiting time outdoors, ensuring pets have adequate shelter from the cold, covering or bringing plants indoors, and insulating pipes to prevent freezing.

Additional updates and possible advisories or warnings may be issued as the event approaches. Georgians are encouraged to stay informed through official National Weather Service channels and local emergency management agencies.
