Floyd County Man Charged with Threatening President Trump

A Floyd County man is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, Jauan Rashun Porter was arrested Thursday following an investigation by the United States Secret Service. Prosecutors say the threats were made during a TikTok livestream on July 26, 2025, where Porter allegedly stated, “The only way to make America great is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes” and made additional threats toward federal agents.

Authorities report that a search uncovered two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite, an explosive material. Porter has previous convictions for multiple offenses, including terroristic threats, witness intimidation, drug possession, battery, and firearm possession by a convicted felon. He was on probation at the time of his arrest.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Walter E. Johnson has ordered Porter to remain in custody until a detention hearing scheduled for August 12, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Officials emphasize that a criminal complaint is only an accusation and that Porter is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The United States Secret Service is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Floyd County Police Department, the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office, and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Michael Pearce is prosecuting the case.
