Ford is recalling more than 300,000 SUVs due to a defect in a seat switch trim bezel that could pose a safety risk to passengers.
The recall affects certain 2020–2025 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models manufactured between October 19, 2018, and November 4, 2024. According to Ford, the trim piece surrounding the seat adjustment switch may have been incorrectly installed. In some cases, this could cause the switch to stick in the down position, potentially triggering the second-row seats to unexpectedly slide forward or fold while the vehicle is in motion.
Though the issue may appear minor, it could create a serious hazard for passengers. Ford says it has received nearly 100 reports related to the problem but notes that no injuries or accidents have been reported to date.
The automaker will begin notifying dealers and affected vehicle owners later this month. Owners will be instructed to bring their vehicles to a dealership for a free inspection of the seat switch bezel. If the part is found to be damaged or improperly installed, dealers will replace it at no cost to the customer under the recall.
For more information, vehicle owners can contact their local Ford or Lincoln dealer or visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for recall status.
