Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of more than 400,000 vehicles due to a defect that could cause windshield wiper arms to break and fail, creating a potential safety hazard for drivers.
According to Ford, the recall affects several popular models produced between 2021 and 2023. The impacted vehicles include Navigator SUVs built from October 25, 2021, through December 29, 2023; Expedition models built between October 25, 2021, and December 31, 2022; and Super Duty pickups produced from October 25, 2021, through December 31, 2022.
Ford officials said the issue involves windshield wiper arms that may fracture and stop working, which could reduce visibility during rain or severe weather and increase the risk of a crash.
Customer notification letters are expected to begin mailing on Monday, April 13. Ford dealers will inspect the windshield wiper arms and replace them at no cost to vehicle owners.
Ford is advising customers to wait for official communication before scheduling service. Vehicle owners with questions can reference recall number 26S24 when contacting a Ford dealer or customer service.
Drivers can also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) through Ford or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to see if their vehicle is included in the recall.
