A gas leak at Gordon Central High School led to the evacuation of the campus earlier today, according to Gordon County Schools officials.
All Gordon Central students are reported safe and have either been released to go home or transported to Ashworth. As a precaution, school officials cancelled classes and all after-school activities on the Gordon Central campus for the remainder of the day. The cancellation applies only to Gordon Central.
Atlanta Gas Light crews responded to the scene and have identified the source of the leak. Workers are currently making repairs.
Gordon County Schools officials said additional updates will be provided later today to Gordon Central students and parents as more information becomes available.
