GCSO Issues Cold Weather Advisory as Temperatures Plunge

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to prepare for extreme cold expected over the next 24 hours. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens overnight and remain dangerously low through Monday morning.

Officials urge the public to remember the “4 Ps” during periods of extreme cold:

  • People and Pets: Ensure adequate warm shelter, especially for vulnerable individuals and animals without proper protection.

  • Pipes: Cover exposed pipes to help prevent freezing and potential damage.

  • Plants: Bring sensitive plants indoors to protect them from freezing temperatures.

  • Protection: Dress in warm, weather-appropriate clothing when outdoors.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions now to stay safe and reduce cold-related hazards during this period of extreme weather.
