Residents and staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living received a special visit Tuesday morning, August 5, from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit. The visit brought smiles, wagging tails, and an opportunity for the community to interact with the department’s highly trained canine officers.

K9 “Maggie,” a bloodhound handled by Sergeant First Class Lindsey Azar, and K9 “Ole Jasper,” a German Shorthaired Pointer handled by Corporal Dale Pullen, were the stars of the morning as they made their way around the facility. The deputies spoke with residents about the roles the dogs play in law enforcement, from tracking missing persons to assisting in searches.

Both deputies and their four-legged partners took time to greet residents, answer questions, and demonstrate some of the dogs’ unique skills. The event served not only as a morale boost for those at Morning Pointe but also as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the bond between the sheriff’s office and the community it serves.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit continues to be an important part of the department’s outreach efforts, showing the lighter side of law enforcement and the strong connection between deputies and their canine partners.
