The Georgia Department of Public Safety has released its Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Period Activity Report, detailing enforcement and crash statistics recorded across the state during the busy holiday travel window.

Troopers reported 74 DUI incidents, highlighting ongoing concerns about impaired driving during major travel periods. Distracted driving also remained a significant issue with 89 citations issued.

Seatbelt enforcement was a major component of the holiday traffic effort, resulting in 137 seatbelt citations, as law enforcement emphasized occupant safety on Georgia’s roadways.

A total of 77 crash reports were filed during the travel period. While officials noted zero fatalities, crashes still resulted in 28 injuries. Troopers investigated four crashes involving impaired drivers and three crashes involving commercial motor vehicles.

The data reflects statewide activity recorded solely by the Georgia Department of Public Safety, according to the agency.

Officials urge drivers to continue practicing safe driving habits—avoiding distractions, wearing seatbelts, and planning ahead when consuming alcohol—as the busy holiday season continues.
