The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating a deadly traffic accident that occurred Thursday afternoon on Hwy 41 near the Gordon County line.
According to GSP, the crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2026, at the intersection of Hwy 41/GA 3 and Woody Road in Adairsville. Preliminary reports indicate that a red Toyota Camry, traveling southbound, was passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone when it swerved back into its lane to avoid an oncoming northbound vehicle.
The Camry then collided with a southbound single-unit commercial vehicle (CMV), striking its left rear with the car’s left front. The impact caused the CMV’s left rear tire to detach and hit a northbound KIA Optima. Following the collision, the Toyota spun clockwise and overturned multiple times off the east side of the roadway.
The driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Highway 41/GA 3 was closed for about two hours while authorities responded and conducted the investigation.
GSP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
