Georgia Northwestern Technical College has received a donation of personal hygiene items that will help support students experiencing financial hardship and housing insecurity across its campuses.

The donation was made by On My Mother’s Shoulders Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing basic necessities to college students facing challenges that could impact their education. The organization partners with colleges to establish community closets stocked with essential items.

On July 21, the nonprofit donated a variety of personal care products to GNTC, including body wash, dental flossers, deodorant, intimate care products, laundry detergent, lotion, razors, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and washcloths.

The items will be distributed through student pantries located at each of GNTC’s six campuses, as well as the college’s Aviation Training Center, ensuring students have access to everyday essentials at no cost.

According to On My Mother’s Shoulders, the organization has partnered with more than 39 colleges nationwide and has donated approximately 136,000 personal care products to help students remain focused on their education instead of financial obstacles.

College officials say the donation will strengthen resources available to students and help remove barriers that can affect academic success.
