Gordon Central High School has announced the appointment of Billy Blizzard as its new Head Football Coach, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience to the Warriors’ program.

Blizzard has been a member of the Gordon Central coaching staff since 2022, serving as Defensive Coordinator during a pivotal rebuilding phase. Under his leadership, the Warriors advanced to the Georgia State Class A playoffs in both 2024 and 2025, marking a period of renewed competitiveness for the program. His efforts earned him statewide recognition as Georgia Class A-D1 Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2024 and Assistant Coach of the Year in 2025.

“Coach Blizzard has been a cornerstone of stability for our program,” said Gordon Central Principal Dr. Amy Parker. “His commitment to our athletes and the recent success of Warrior football has been unwavering. I am confident he understands what it takes to build a winning culture both on and off the field.”

Blizzard’s coaching approach emphasizes athletic performance alongside academic success and character development. He holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership and is certified in both Special Education and Physical Education. Throughout his career, he has focused on developing well-rounded student-athletes prepared for success beyond the football field.

Prior to his time at Gordon Central, Blizzard served as Defensive Coordinator at East Paulding High School and Sprayberry High School, helping guide both programs to multiple playoff appearances and earning several coaching honors. He began his coaching career at Tennessee Technological University, where he coached the defensive line and managed football operations.

As Head Coach, Blizzard plans to build on recent momentum while fostering a program centered on discipline, teamwork, and community pride.

“I’m honored to lead this program and excited about the future of Gordon Central football,” Blizzard said. “We’ve laid a strong foundation, and now it’s time to take the next step together.”
