Gordon County 911 Telecommunicator Recognized with Statewide Honor

A Gordon County 911 telecommunicator has received statewide recognition for her dedication to public safety.

During the Gordon County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Gordon County 911 telecommunicator Missy Bingiel was recognized after being named the Georgia APCO Telecommunications Officer of the Month for July 2026.

The honor is awarded by the Georgia Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (Georgia APCO), the state chapter of APCO International, one of the world’s largest and oldest nonprofit professional organizations dedicated to advancing public safety communications.

Lt. Macey Silvers, training coordinator for Gordon County 911, presented Bingiel with a certificate recognizing the achievement. Silvers, who nominated Bingiel for the award, praised her commitment to the profession in her nomination.

In the nomination, Silvers wrote that Bingiel “represents the very best of what public safety stands for.”

The recognition highlights Bingiel’s service and professionalism as one of the first points of contact during emergencies, providing critical communication and support to both the public and first responders.

County officials congratulated Bingiel on receiving the statewide honor and thanked her for her continued dedication to serving the residents of Gordon County.
