CALHOUN, GA – July 1, 2025 – Gordon County E911 is launching its annual Gifts for Grands campaign, aiming to bring joy and comfort to every nursing home resident in the community this Christmas season. To make that goal a reality, the agency is calling on the public to help get a jumpstart on donations throughout the month of July.

The heartwarming initiative includes a festive delivery event where Santa Claus, the Grinch, local first responders, and children singing Christmas carols will hand-deliver gifts to seniors living in area nursing homes.

“Each year, we see the joy these simple items bring to our seniors,” said a spokesperson for Gordon County E911. “With help from the community, we want to ensure that no resident is left without a gift this holiday season.”

Donations can be dropped off every Sunday in July at the Gordon County E911 Center, located at 100 Nine One One Blvd. in Calhoun.

Suggested Donation Items Include:

  • Flashlights with batteries

  • Personal care items (soap, lotion, shampoo, toothbrushes)

  • Warm clothing (robes, sweat suits, gloves, socks, slippers)

  • Non-perishable snacks (soups, crackers, sugar-free candy)

  • Entertainment items (books, playing cards, large print puzzles, magazines)

  • Comfort and household items (blankets, towels, alarm clocks, calendars, photo albums)

  • Safety items (smoke alarms, jar-opening devices)

  • Stationery and cards

All items should be new and suitable for elderly recipients. The drive offers a meaningful way for individuals, families, churches, and civic groups to give back to the senior community this holiday season.
