Gordon County EMA Urges Residents to Sign Up for Emergency Weather Alerts

With severe weather season approaching, Gordon County Emergency Management Agency officials are encouraging residents to take steps now to ensure they receive timely emergency weather alerts.

Residents can sign up for Gordon County’s emergency notification system by visiting www.GordonCountyGa.gov and clicking on “Sign up for Emergency Notifications.” Individuals can also register directly through the county’s alert system online.

Emergency notifications provide important updates during severe weather events and other emergencies, helping residents stay informed about potential dangers and safety instructions.

In addition to registering for the county alert system, Gordon County EMA recommends that every household take several additional precautions to stay weather aware.

Officials suggest purchasing a NOAA weather radio, which can provide indoor alerts during severe weather — especially overnight when people may be asleep.

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for other emergency alert platforms, such as ialert.com, where individuals can create a free account to receive notifications.

Downloading multiple weather apps on smartphones or tablets is another way to stay informed, officials said. Using more than one source can ensure residents receive weather updates even if one service experiences delays or technical issues.

Recommended apps include AccuWeather and ClimeRadar.

Emergency officials stress that having multiple ways to receive warnings can make a critical difference during severe weather situations.
