Gordon County Fire Rescue Extinguishes Early Morning House Fire; No Injuries Reported

Gordon County Fire Rescue responded to an early morning residential structure fire Saturday, Aug. 8, with firefighters quickly bringing the blaze under control and preventing further damage.

According to Gordon County Fire Rescue Chief Heath Derryberry, crews were dispatched to a home on Johnson Drive SE, off Boone Ford Road, where they arrived to find smoke coming from the structure.

Firefighters entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire.

No injuries were reported during the incident, Derryberry said.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire was accidental in nature.

The incident marks another busy year for Gordon County Fire Rescue. According to the department, firefighters have responded to more than 20 structure fires since the beginning of 2026.

Fire officials have not released additional details about the extent of the damage to the home.
