Gordon County, GA — Firefighters from across Georgia recently gathered in Gordon County for a 24-hour Advanced Vehicle Extrication Course hosted by Gordon County Fire Rescue. The course, sponsored by the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association (GEMSA), was led by Rescue Redefined, a nationally recognized technical rescue training organization.
The training focused on the latest techniques for safely removing patients from vehicles following serious crashes. It aimed to enhance firefighter safety, improve patient outcomes, and prepare crews for complex rescue scenarios.
The course included eight hours of classroom instruction on advanced vehicle anatomy, stabilization methods, and tactical decision-making. The remaining 16 hours were spent in hands-on simulations using real vehicles and professional extrication tools.
The practical exercises were held at Parrish Wrecker Service, which provided both the training site and vehicles. Gordon County Fire Rescue expressed appreciation for Parrish Wrecker’s continued support of local first responder training.
“This type of advanced training is critical for our department and mutual aid partners,” said Fire Chief Heath Derryberry. “It ensures we’re prepared to respond effectively and safely to the most difficult incidents on our roadways.”
Gordon County Fire Rescue continues to prioritize advanced training and regional collaboration to deliver the highest level of emergency service.
