Gordon County First Responders Launch ‘1st to Respond, 1st to Serve’ Food Drive to Fight Hunger

GORDON COUNTY, GA – Local first responders are joining forces in a friendly but meaningful competition to help fight hunger in the community. The “1st to Respond, 1st to Serve” Food Drive officially kicks off on July 1 and will run through July 31, benefiting the Voluntary Action Center (VAC) Food Pantry.

Spearheaded by AdventHealth Gordon and the VAC, the campaign brings together multiple emergency response agencies with one shared goal: collecting non-perishable food items to support families in need across Gordon County.

Participating agencies include:

  • AdventHealth Gordon EMS

  • Gordon County Sheriff’s Office

  • Gordon County E 9-1-1 Communications

  • Gordon County Fire Department

  • Calhoun Fire Department

  • Calhoun Police Department

Community members are encouraged to support their favorite first responder team by dropping off non-perishable food items at any of the participating agency locations throughout the month of July. All donations will go directly to stock the VAC Food Pantry shelves, helping to provide meals for local individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Organizers hope the competitive spirit between agencies will boost participation and raise awareness about the ongoing need for food assistance in the area.

For more information about the food drive or how to get involved, contact any participating agency or the Voluntary Action Center directly.
