While it is not the standard policy of Gordon County Government to collect storm debris, we understand that extraordinary circumstances require a compassionate and proactive response. In the case of significant storm events, such as the one we just experienced, our Public Works Department and a contracted storm debris company will assist with natural, vegetative, storm debris pickup from the public right-of-way in the trajectory of the storm.
On Thursday, May 23, 2025, the National Weather Service confirmed that Gordon County was impacted by two EF0 tornadoes. On Sunday, May 25, 2025, a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moved across northwest Georgia. This line had several embedded circulations that resulted in relatively two EF1 tornadoes. In conjunction with local emergency management, NWS Peachtree City was able to conduct ground surveys on the damage.
