The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held two of three scheduled public hearings this week on the county’s 2025 property tax millage rate, with only one resident addressing the board.

Both hearings took place Tuesday, one at noon and the other during the commissioners’ regular evening meeting. The afternoon session drew no comments, while local resident Frank Alegria spoke during the evening hearing to thank commissioners for proposing to maintain the same millage rate as last year.

Late last month, commissioners voted to advertise a proposed rate of 9.042 mills for the county’s portion of property tax bills. This rate remains unchanged from the previous year and does not include any additional taxes levied by cities or school systems.

The third and final public hearing on the millage rate is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m., during the commission’s second regular monthly meeting.
