Gordon County Schools is pleased to announce that free breakfast and lunch will once again be available to all students throughout the 2025–2026 school year. This initiative reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to student well-being and academic success by ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals at no cost.

The continuation of this program is made possible through Gordon County Schools’ participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. The CEP allows schools in eligible districts to serve meals to all students without requiring families to submit individual applications—eliminating both paperwork and administrative costs.

“Making sure our students are well-nourished is essential for learning,” district officials said. “We are proud to continue offering healthy meals that support the growth, development, and academic performance of every student.”

Research consistently shows that access to free school meals improves overall health, helps reduce childhood obesity, and enhances academic achievement. Additionally, offering meals to all students helps remove the stigma sometimes associated with receiving school meals, fostering a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.

For Gordon County Schools, providing free meals is more than a program—it’s a promise to care for the whole child, every day.
