The Georgia State Patrol has released preliminary information regarding a serious crash that occurred Thursday morning on the I-75 northbound entrance ramp at Exit 310.
According to investigators, a Honda Civic driven by Michel Gbadie was fleeing a marked Bartow County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit while traveling north on I-75 in Gordon County. The vehicle exited at Exit 310 and continued across Georgia Highway 53.
Troopers say the Honda failed to yield at a red light and attempted to pass a tractor-trailer on the entrance ramp. During that maneuver, the vehicle struck the tractor-trailer, causing it to rotate counterclockwise. The Honda then hit a guardrail before colliding with a second tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder.
Gbadie was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital by Life Force in critical condition.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation. The northbound entrance ramp at Exit 310 was closed for approximately three hours while crews worked the scene.
