The Georgia State Patrol has released preliminary details regarding a pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon in front of Sonoraville High School, leaving a 14-year-old injured.
According to GSP, a trooper from the Calhoun post responded around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, to GA-53, also known as Fairmount Highway, near Sonoraville High School following a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation determined that a white Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Alicia Casey McGlamery of Calhoun, was traveling east on GA-53 when a 14-year-old attempted to cross the highway at a location where there was no crosswalk.
GSP said McGlamery did not see the teenager in enough time to stop or take evasive action. The front of the Trailblazer struck the teen on the right side of his body.
The teenager was transported by AdventHealth EMS to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. According to GSP, his injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The crash occurred during the afternoon hours near Sonoraville High School and prompted an emergency response in the area.
Georgia State Patrol said no charges are pending in connection with the crash.
The information released by GSP is preliminary, and the crash remains part of the agency’s investigation.
