Sheriff Mitch Ralston reports:

On the afternoon of Friday, October 17, deputy sheriffs responded to a residence on Rock Creek Road in reference to a report of a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim and confirmed that the injury was non-life threatening. She was transported for medical treatment and remains hospitalized. Investigators noted that the woman has not cooperated with detectives regarding the circumstances of the shooting.

During the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s Office detectives discovered a substantial quantity of suspected methamphetamine on the premises. In addition, more than 60 firearms were located, all believed to be illegally possessed. The discovery led investigators to initiate drug trafficking and weapons charges.

Marty Worley, age 54, of 269 Rock Creek Road, was arrested at the scene and charged with drug trafficking and multiple weapons violations. He is currently being held at the Gordon County Jail pending bond.

The investigation remains active, and additional arrests and/or charges are expected as detectives continue to gather evidence.
