Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a residence on Baker Circle off Dews Pond Road.
According to Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. following a report of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies provided first aid to the victim, who was later transported by air ambulance for further medical treatment.
Deputies quickly identified the source of the gunfire and detained one adult male at the scene. Officials say the firearm believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered, and no other suspects are being sought at this time.
Detectives remain on scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
