Local Government and Election Updates for Gordon County

GORDON COUNTY, GA — A busy start to the week is underway for local government and voters in Gordon County.

Tonight, the Gordon County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Board of Education office, located next to Sonoraville High School at 6100 Fairmount Highway. The agenda includes several contract renewals, extensions, and key discussions. Community members can view the full agenda at gcbe.org.

Tuesday, July 15, marks Election Day for the Democratic Primary Runoff for Georgia’s Public Service Commission. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but due to extremely low turnout—fewer than 1% of eligible voters participated in the primary—the Calhoun Recreation Department will be the only precinct open for this runoff election.

Also on Tuesday, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting. The work session begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the formal meeting at 6:00 p.m. While the meeting is open to the public, it will not include a public hearing on the proposed millage rate increase. Additional details and the agenda are available at gordoncountyga.gov.

Residents are encouraged to participate and stay informed on decisions impacting the community.
