The planning commission on Monday night drew a larger than normal crowd. On the agenda were two requests to rezone a combined 90 acres from agricultural to light industrial. The Gordon County Historical Preservation committee voted unanimously to deny the request. The owners of the lot are trying to get proper clearance to build a large logistics center. The Planning Commission, with one member absent, split the vote with two for approval of the applications and two opposed. The tie will be reported to The Gordon County Board of Commissioners for a decision. The matter will be on the board’s Tuesday, March 18, 2025 agenda.
The City of Calhoun is mailing out letters to those who rely on wells. These letters explain the PFAS (Forever Chemicals) testing and mitigation that is available.
