Oversized Equipment Transport to Impact Traffic in Rome This Week

SHARE NOW

The Rome Police Department is advising motorists to prepare for potential traffic delays this week due to the transport of oversized industrial equipment through the area.

According to officials, large silo transports measuring approximately 140 feet in length will travel inbound on Highway 53 before proceeding to Westside Industrial off the GA 1 Loop (Redmond Circle). The transports are scheduled for Monday, February 23, and Wednesday, February 25, at approximately 2 p.m. each day.

Drivers can expect intermittent traffic slowdowns, temporary lane disruptions, and police-escorted transports accompanied by pilot vehicles to ensure public safety.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes during the scheduled transport periods.

The Rome Police Department thanked the public for their patience as the industrial project moves forward safely.
