Paper Recycling Containers Now Open at Gordon County Compactor Sites

GORDON COUNTY – Residents now have a new way to recycle paper locally. Six Gordon County trash compactor sites are equipped with dedicated paper recycling containers, thanks to a grant awarded to Keep Calhoun-Gordon Beautiful (KCGB).

In October 2024, KCGB identified a need for specific paper recycling opportunities in the county, noting that none previously existed. Partnering with Gordon County, the organization applied for an Environmental Protection Division Solid Waste Diversion Grant to fund the effort.

The grant, totaling $69,523, was awarded at no cost to the county. The funding covered the purchase of six waterproof recycling roll-off containers, which are now stationed at selected compactor sites.

The containers are designated exclusively for paper products, helping expand recycling opportunities for Gordon County residents while reducing landfill waste.

Keep Calhoun-Gordon Beautiful encourages the community to take advantage of this new program by recycling paper at one of the six participating locations.
