ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) announced that, in accordance with new federal directives, partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be distributed to eligible Georgians during November.
Households whose scheduled distribution dates have already passed will receive their partial allotments by Tuesday, November 11, according to DHS. All other SNAP recipients will receive benefits on their normal schedule for the remainder of the month.
Under the directive, households will receive up to 65 percent of their standard monthly SNAP benefit amount. The exact percentage will vary based on income and allowable deductions.
DHS is urging recipients to take precautions to protect their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards as benefits are issued. Officials recommend using the “lock my card everywhere” feature available through the ConnectEBT mobile app on Apple and Android devices. Cardholders who cannot access the app may also manage their card status and check balances through the ConnectEBT website.
