Qualifying for Local Offices Ends Friday at Noon

The qualifying period for several local offices in Gordon County will come to a close at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 6. Candidates wishing to run for office must complete the qualifying process at the Gordon County Board of Elections Office, located on the first floor of the Gordon County Courthouse.

Offices up for election this cycle include County Commissioner Districts 2 and 4 and Gordon County Board of Education Posts 1, 3, 5, and 7. The qualifying fee is $180 for county commissioner seats and $36 for board of education positions.

  • County Commissioner District 2 — 4-year term | Incumbent: Chad Steward

  • County Commissioner District 4 — 4-year term | Incumbent: Kurt Sutherland

  • Board of Education Post 1 — 4-year term | Incumbent: Charles “Charlie” Walraven (must reside in Post 1)

  • Board of Education Post 3 — 4-year term | Incumbent: Dana Stewart (must reside in Post 3)

  • Board of Education Post 5 — 4-year term | Incumbent: Kacie Smith (must reside in Post 5)

  • Board of Education Post 7 (At Large) — 4-year term | Incumbent: Eddie Hall (must reside in Gordon County but outside the Calhoun city limits)
