At the May 20th Board of Commissioners’ meeting Chief Heath Derryberry and the Board of Commissioners recognized Mr. Randy Wheat for his long-standing commitment and service to Gordon County Fire Rescue. Randy has been a part of this organization for over 45 years as a volunteer firefighter.

Throughout his time with the department, Randy played an important role in the early days of volunteer fire service in Gordon County. His willingness to serve helped lay the groundwork for the operations we have today. While he is not currently as active in emergency response, his name and history remain part of the department’s story.

Randy is also involved in his community through other organizations and continues to give back in many ways. His dedication to helping others extends beyond the fire service, making a positive impact on the lives of those around him in multiple aspects of community life.
