Around 60 seniors from across Gordon County enjoyed a warm and festive Thanksgiving luncheon earlier today at the Gordon County Senior Citizen Center. The annual event brought together community members for a traditional holiday meal, served with the help of local officials — including Gordon County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bud Owens, who assisted staff in serving food.

The luncheon is one of many offerings provided by the Senior Citizen Center, which plays a vital role in supporting the county’s older adults. The center hosts a wide range of programs, including exercise classes, legal aid assistance, field trips, bingo games, health screenings, and seminars covering tax support, fire safety, and driver safety.

In addition to its on-site activities, the center features a fully equipped exercise room, pool tables, card tables, and a computer lab for senior use. It also oversees the county’s Meals on Wheels Program, ensuring daily meal delivery to homebound residents.

The Thanksgiving event continues the center’s mission to foster community, support wellness, and provide essential services to Gordon County’s senior population.
